NIKON 1 LAUNCH / 2011 //

Nikon 1.jpg

BRIEF //

In September 2011, Nikon unveiled a revolutionary new camera system. The company’s biggest announcement since the launch of digital in 1997, the Nikon 1 was the world’s fastest camera and boasted never-before-seen photography features. Their brief: “Put us number one in the market by Christmas.”

SOLUTION //

We wanted to create an element of intrigue, and ultimately a statement that the Nikon 1 was different and was here. By introducing a giant pair of hands in cities across Europe at the exact same time – before introducing the camera itself – it got the internet talking before its launch, that by the time it was released along with its new technology, consumers were queuing outside the likes of Jessops, The Nikon 1 achieved the top spot in terms of share and value in the compact interchangeable lens category in six of the seven markets that hosted the Big Hands. A truly remarkable launch for the Nikon 1 with Big Hands . It was a beautifully simple idea that required meticulous planning to ensure the stunt happened simultaneously across the seven cities.
