MUSIC CARDS / 2021 //

Yoto Mock Up.jpg

BRIEF //

To design and or illustrate cover art to feature on two brand new Yoto music cards for music artists Agent Skidoo 23 and Elliot Park. And to offer a different visual style to what the in-house team produce so as to allow a wider variety of creative options to their portfolio.

Elliot Park makes gentle and heart-warming music for kids and families from his home in Nashville Tennessee. His voice is weathered and truthful, his lyrics, colorful and delicate; he’s been bending ears and genre lines through sage storytelling for years. His music is an ear to the door of a loving and imaginative home. Elliott often sings on songs with his daughters Anna, Autumn and April deliver calm assurances, sweet sentiments and a pinch of quirkiness.

Secret Agent 23 Skidoo is a purple velvet tuxedo wearing family funk phenomenon. Combining the positive, primal power of hip hop with the surreal storytelling of science fiction, 23 Skidoo promotes the boundless mindstates of young children, respect for the culture and DNA of hip hop, funk and soul music, and a deep belief in the power of the imagination to change the world in positive ways, both personal and universal. If you can imagine a band with Jim Henson on guitar, Shel Silverstein on bass and PIXAR as the lead vocalist, you’ve pretty much got it. And if George Clinton and Q Tip stopped by the party, that might clarify things even more. Basically, if Dr. Seuss and Dr. Dre had a baby, it would be the music of Secret Agent 23 Skidoo

SOLUTION //

I researched the current visual identities of each artist and extended them through mood imagery into a wider illustrative world. Exploring different illustration styles that suited the two very different artists. Once the client was happy with the general look and feel I produced several loose scamps for composition purposes which the client would then choose their favourite to be artworked. The artist then had to approve these designs before final tweaks were made for production.

MUSIC CARDS / 2022 //

BRIEF //

To design and or illustrate cover art to feature on two brand new Yoto music cards for music artists Matthew Patrick Davis and Smidi and Prik. And to offer a different visual style to what the in-house team produce so as to allow a wider variety of creative options to their portfolio.

I LOVE MY DOG
Get ready for some doggy, puppy, woofy FUN! A whimsical, waggish, quirky, funny musical adventure for any and all dog lovers of any and all ages.  "I L️OVE MY DOG” was exclusively created for YOTO Matthew Patrick Davis is a songwriter based in Los Angeles where he specializes in writing comedic songs & musicals. Matt is also an actor working in theatre, film, TV & commercials.  Matt’s muse and inspiration for the project is his dog Morty aka Sir Mortimer Chomps aka Lil’ Tumbleweed.

HELPING OUT
From the Emmy nominated team that brought you:the ‘Paw Patrol’ theme! & songs from ‘Blaze and the Monster Machines’. Created especially for Yoto!!  “Helping Out” - Fun songs for some of those not-so-fun moments.  Smidi (Michael “Smidi” Smith) and Pirk (Scott Krippayne) are the Emmy nominated team that brought you the PAW Patrol Theme and more than 50 songs from Blaze And The Monster Machines.  Between the two, they have written and produced songs that have sold over 20 million copies worldwide, including twenty-five #1 songs. In addition to having tunes recorded by some of the biggest names in music, their songs have been used by Nickelodeon, Disney, Netflix, and American Idol, as well as countless other film and television placements.

SLEEPYTIME
“Sleepytime” was inspired by Eban’s nightly routine of trying to get his kids to sleep by telling them improvised “make-up stories” that would humorously weave into unexpected places.  Composer/songwriter Eban Schletter began his music career with the groundbreaking HBO comedy Mr. Show with Bob and David, for which he was nominated for an Emmy and won a CableAce award. He has been a go-to songsmith for SpongeBob SquarePants since its second season (recently providing the theme music to the Kamp Koral spinoff). His diverse output has ranged from the industrial propulsion of Comedy Central’s Battlebots, to the joyous 8-bit score and songs for Amazon’s Little Big Awesome, to the retro- horror thrills of Hulu’s Stan Against Evil. His eclectic nature is further reflected in his album output which includes cult classics Eban Schletter’s Witching Hour and Eban Schletter’s Cosmic Christmas (which was listed by Metromix as one of the “Top 10 weirdest Christmas records of all time”).
